About Me

Phi Mu was founded in 1852 at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia and is the second oldest sorority in the nation. We have provided social opportunities, a support network, and personal enrichment resources to members for over 150 years. In that time over 175,000 Phi Mu women have been vibrant members of college campuses and we have chartered over 228 chapters. Phi Mu Fraternity is a vibrant values-based women's organization. Our purpose is found in the principles of love, honor, and truth. We vigorously pursue the interests and purpose of women on collegiate campuses and in our communities. We are lively directing our energies toward ideas bigger than ourselves. We build one another up toward achieving our personal best. The promise of our mutual efforts is a lifetime of sisterhood. We are individuals, leaders, and friends. We give and serve. We are Phi Mu!

Sisters Abroad: Kristen Lindell and Maddy Smith

Kristen Lindell and Maddy Smith, both juniors at Auburn, spent a few weeks in Europe at the beginning of the summer studying abroad.

Prior to their five week scheduled program in Florence, Italy, the two girls spent time on their own in Paris "exploring" the city.

After their time in Paris, Kristen and Maddy traveled to Scoula Lorenzo de Medici, the university in Florence where they would spend their weeks studying. Apart from their actual studies, the pair worked on their Italian and learned valuable cultural lessons.

While at the University, the girls would attend classes Monday through Thursday, and spend their weekends traveling. Some of the locations they visited were Venice, Pisa, Rome, Cinque, Terre and Verona.

Though the traveling was fun, Kristen enjoyed the time they were able to spend in Florence.

"We always loved coming back to Florence," Kristen said. "We had an apartment and met a ton of different students from around the United States."

Their five weeks abroad sadly came to an end, and the two girls returned to the USA to spend the rest of the summer States side.

"In our home city of Florence! Our absolute favorite place of the trip!" Kristen Lindell
